Being one of the folklore of Aashayein Foundation, Mysore,
PUSTAKA ABHIYANA was successfully carried out at the Government Lower Primary
School, Ramabai Nagar.
Under PUSTAKA ABHIYAANA, AF identifies the schools whose
children are deprived of the basic necessities like books and stationary. AF
also makes sure that these children are provided with things as such.
The team of dedicated volunteers work towards ensuring the
availability of all the required facilities in these schools.
The Government Lower Primary School, Ramabai Nagar has a
total of about 75 students with classes I to V put together. The children were
given 4 books each which would suffice for their academic requirement for the
year.
A painting competition, which as you all know is an activity
that creates a sense of excitement among kids, the topic being Independence Day,
was conducted for two categories, one for the 1st and 2nd
grades and the other for 3rd, 4th and 5th
grades. We were awestruck by the creativity of the children who managed to come
up with some really appreciable work. Three prizes were given in each of the
category.
There were two different impromptu games which the
volunteers managed to pull off and the kids had the time of their lives...so
did the volunteers.
All in all, the whole programme was a grand success, thanks
to the volunteers for their support; we hope to have the same level of
participation for all our endeavours.
Special thanks have to be said to the really co-operative
staff members of the Government Lower Primary School, Ramabai Nagar without
whom this programme would have been far from successful.
