Summer Camp 2011

 

About the Camp:

Aashayein Foundation is organizing a summer camp for the children of class 9 and 10 at Guru Malleshwara High School, Doora Village, Mysore District. The camp will be held on eight days spread across four weeks. A total of about 50 children will be benefited from this initiative.

The objectives of the summer camp,

·         To generate an interest towards science and inculcate scientific reasoning among the children.

·         To demonstrate that the process of learning can be fun and interesting in an attempt to improve the retention rate at the school.

·         Focused career counseling and personality development to motivate children to pursue higher education.

·         To inculcate the habits of hygiene, cleanliness and social responsibility among the children

Activities:

Some of the key activities planned for the Summer Camp 2011iinclude,

·         Science Experiments: Children will perform interesting experiments that will help them understand the basic concepts of science and promote scientific reasoning

·         Craft and painting: An opportunity to pick up or hone the creative talent.

·         Career guidance: The interactive session will give explore the interests of children and share information on the exciting career opportunities in various fields.

·         Cultural activities: These sessions will bring out the hidden talent within the children and will culminate with a grand closing ceremony featuring stage performances by them. 

·         Games: An innovative approach to promote working in teams.

·         Natural History Museum: A field trip to the Regional Museum of Natural History, Mysore.

·         First Aid: A session on understanding the basic first aid procedures for common injuries/emergencies.

·         Fun with Maths: This session will aim to simplify and generate interest towards one of the most dreaded subjects.

·         Computers: An interactive session about understanding the wonder machine and its applications.

The children will be served with lunch & snacks on all the days of the summer camp. About 30 volunteers are working closely to make this project a grand success. A similar camp was successfully organized by Aashayein Foundation during 2010 at Govt. High School, Hadinaaru Village, Mysore that benefited about 60 children.

You can play a vital role in creating special moments for children which have a positive and long lasting impact in their lives. Help us reach out to children who have never had an opportunity to be a part of any Summer Camp.

HALLI-SUMMER-CAMP (Weekend 1)

AF-Mysore launched the much awaited HALLI SUMMER CAMP on 24th April 2010 at the BNSS High School, Hadinaaru Village, Nanjangud taluk, Mysore. The Principal and the staff of the school were highly supportive and helped the volunteers. It was learnt during one of the pre-camp interactions that the children had never attended a summer camp before. This set the expectations high. The children were informed of the activities that would be conducted as a part of the camp and the tentative schedule. 

The camp kick started with an introductory speech from Mr. B. Mahadevappa, principal of the school. He welcomes the volunteers and appreciated their intentions and efforts in sharing knowledge and spreading joy amongst the children of their school. 

The programme schedule for the first weekend was as given below,

A total of 54 children attended the camp on the first two days. Going by the response and the enthusiasm, one was sure that more would be joining in the coming weeks.

Run-up to the SUMMER CAMP
